mIRC Auto-Getting

If you're using mIRC and away, and want to receive files, here's how.

Part 1: Ignore Settings

First, set the Ignore settings to allow what files you want to recieve. For example, media files (avi, mpg, wmv).

In the mIRC main menu, select View → Options. This will bring up the mIRC Options dialog box. In this box, on the left-side tree list, select DCC → Ignore. This will display the settings panel below.

In this panel, there are three options for the method setting:

  • Disabled – Nothing needs to be done
  • Accept only – Make sure that the following file types are in the list: *.avi, *.mpg, and *.wmv.
  • Ignore only – Make sure that the following file types are NOT in the list: *.avi, *.mpg, and *.wmv.

Part 2: Auto-Get Settings

Next, set the DCC settings to allow auto-getting.

In the mIRC Options dialog box, select DCC. This will display the settings panel below.

In this panel, in the on send request frame, select auto-get file. If you want to enable resuming, in the if file exists list box, select resume.

Next, verify your trusted settings by clicking the trusted button. This will display the following dialog box.

If the limit auto-get to trusted users checkbox is selected, make sure the people you want to auto-get from are in trust list. (If you don't know what you are doing, do not check either box.)
